2.6 How do I give back my hired car on Mauritius?

The return takes place just like the pick-up. With airport return a coworker of the car rental agency will wait for you in the agreed upon time at the airport arrival gate, in order to pick up the vehicle. With hotel delivery a coworker of the car rental service will visit you at the agreed time, in order to fetch the vehicle. In principle the vehicle must be returned in the same condition, as it was taken over. Also the level of the tank must be the same one as with assumption.

2.7 Where can I pick up and/or return my hired car on Mauritius?

You determine the place. Your hired car can be supplied to all places on Mauritius, specified in the booking form, and/or fetched from these. On request we can arrange also deviating places. Pick-up and return place do not have to be identical thereby. For hotel delivery you have to indicate the address of the hotel in the booking form as special wishes. The costs of the transfer of your hired car depends on the distance to the renting stations. In the north and the west of Mauritius the transfer is already contained in the universe Inclusive price. In the rest of the island the transfer costs approx. 15 to EUR, - per distance.

3. Prices and achievements

3.1 What is in the hire price all inclusive?

The following achievements are contained in the rent:

Insurance against all risks ( Insurance)

partial transfer (in the north and the west of Mauritius including)
all fees, commissions and taxes

3.2 From where starts the price of the hired car?

The price of the rent depends on season period and rent duration.

3.3 Which additive achievements can I book?

Additionally to the universe Inclusive achievements you can book an insurance against all risks without self participation.

3.4 Are additional driver free of charge?

Yes. An additional driver is already contained in the rent. If you need more as two drivers, these must be registered with the car hire agency locally in the contract. Additionally fees for that must be directly paid locally.

3.5 Is there a certain tank regulation?

If in the contract nothing else was agreed upon, always deliver the vehicle with the same tank level, with which you also received it.

4. Insurance

4.1 Which insurances are inclusive?

The following insurance is contained in the rent:

Insurance against all risks with EUR 375,- self participation (only in the case of loss)
Theft insurance (only the vehicle)
Liability insurance with unlimited covering sum

4.2 What covers the insurance against all risks?

The insurance against all risks covers damage to your rented car and theft of the vehicle.

4.3 Is the insurance against all risks with or without self participation?

In order to be able to offer to you your renting vehicle as favorably as possible, an insurance against all risks with EUR 375 self participation is according to standard, in our universe Inclusive prices. Of course you also have the possibility to book against a small surcharge an insurance against all risks without self participation.

4.4 Can I book a resignation protection?

No. Unfortunately up to now we can offer a resignation protection only for our german clients.

5. Payment

5.1 Manner of payment. How can I pay my hired car?

You can pay your hired cars alternatively by transfer on our german account in advance or by credit card locally directly with the car rental agency. In order to avoid rate of exchange fluctuations during the credit card payment in Mauritius, we recommend the manner of payment to you by transfer.

5.2 Do I need a credit card, in order to book a hired car?

Not necessarily. You have also the possibility to pay by transfer. A deposit, for which you need a credit card, you can go around by conclusion of an insurance against all risks without self participation or by the deposit of a cash security.

5.3 Do I have to deposit locally a bail for my hired car?

Only if you decided for the favorable insurance against all risks with self participation. You can deposit the self participation either by credit card, which is issued on the main driver or by cash security in national currency with the delivery of your rented car locally. Your credit card is loaded only in the case of loss and maximally up to the height of the agreed upon self participation (in national currency). You receive the unnecessary cash security with return of the rented car of course in cash national currency again back. During the insurance against all risks without self participation also the necessity for a bail is void.

6. Driving a car on Mauritius

6.1 Do I need an international driving license in Mauritius?

No. A driving license from your country is completely sufficient.

6.2 How old I must be on Mauritius, in order to be allowed to rent a vehicle?

For renting a car in Mauritius the necessary age is 21 years.

6.3 Is Mauritius prevails to left-hand traffic?

Yes. On Mauritius the same traffic rules are valid as in Great Britain. The steering wheel in your rented car is on the right side.

6.4 May I leave Mauritius with my hired car?

No. Leaving of the island with your hired car, for example with the car ferry, is not permitted.

6.5 How high are the gasoline prices on Mauritius?

The gasoline prices on Mauritius are very favorable. They are about half as high as in Great Britain gasoline prices.

6.6 Can I park my car in Mauritius easily?

In small towns parking is free of charge possible. In Port Louis, Rose Hill and Quatre Bornes you find parking lots at the roadside. They are marked by zone 1 or zone 2. There you need a park light. These you will receive at gas stations. 30 minutes cost at present 5 MUR. The maximum park duration amounts to 2 hours. In addition there are several large parking areas agains fee.

7. In the case of accidents

7.1 What happens in case of an accident?

If you have an accident with your hired car or you are implicated into an accident, please consider the following:

Inform the local car rental agency immediately (on your reservation confirmation you find the 24-hour-Hotline). Th agency will help you.
In principle you should call also the police and provide a police report.
With return of the vehicle it is advisable to ask for a damage report of the local car rental agency and sign it, in order to get the necessary self participation refunded.
